Code of Conduct

The Perth Property Management Institute is a group of professionals that have been brought together to elevate standards to property management businesses. As such, Members are committed to fostering best practice by raising standards and participating in networking and training events. 

Our members are committed to education and honest practice and seek to bring education and information to Perth landlords and industry colleagues.

PPMI supports property management agencies to collaborate with other leading Property Management businesses. To ensure a high standard is maintained this Code of Conduct (the Code) has been developed for all persons acting on behalf of PPMI.

All members commit to

  • Raise professional standards in the Property Management industry

  • Dealing with all persons with whom they may come into contact in the course of their professional and commercial activities honestly, honorably and in good faith.

  • Maintain confidentiality within members with their intellectual property and not improperly use that information or disclose it to a third party unless authorised to do so

  • Not engage in any acts or omissions of a misleading, dishonest, deceptive or fraudulent nature.

  • Members and their employees will uphold the reputation and values of PPMI and avoid any behaviour that would discredit PPMI.

  • Abide by laws and regulations including the Residential Tenancies Act 1987, the Real Estate and Business Agents and Sales Representatives Code of Conduct 2016 and the Competition and Consumer Act 2010

  • Notify PPMI of any pending prosecution with DMIRS or any other regulatory body

  • Be open to contribute their time and knowledge to the clients and other members including articles, best practice and educations sessions and participate in client events

  • Comply with PPMI rules and procedures 

  • The Property Management Agency practice is to maintain a minimum of a 4-star review rating on Google

  • Be an independent local agency and not be linked to a franchise

  • Advocate the Code and report any breaches to a PPMI founding member

  • At all times maintain Professional Indemnity insurance which is appropriate to their specific service provision.

  • Always act in the best interests of our customers and PPMI

  • Use and manage PPMI resources responsibly

  • Ensure that their advertising will not be misleading, dishonest or deceptive.

  • Advise of any successful relationship referral that has had a managing authority signed to PPMI

 

PPMI reserves the right to terminate memberships for a breach of the code of conduct


The Code will be reviewed every year to ensure a high standard is continuously maintained.
